For Christians and others interested in the Scriptures of both Christianity and the Jewish Religion, the Bible is a foundational book. The problem is that it is such a diverse collection of types of literature that many have only dipped into it, preferring to read the gospel stories of Jesus, some of the history of the Jewish people, and the devotional Psalms. The rest of the Bible remains a mystery.
One way to get over this problem is to set oneself the task of reading the entire Bible in one year.

The discipline of attempting to read a few chapters each day will open up whole aspects of this religiously important book. In fact, it is possible to read the whole Bible in one year by reading three chapters every day, except for one day when five must be read (maybe the Sabbath or Sunday could be used for this).
